Psychosis following phenibut-assisted withdrawal

Abstract

Phenibut is less frequently used in the UK compared with heroin, cocaine, crack, cannabis, ketamine or alcohol but is currently not covered by the UK drugs legislation. It is widely available on the internet, and its popularity is increasing, particularly among younger, internet-savvy patients. This case describes a patient who developed psychosis during medically assisted withdrawal from phenibut. Copyright © 2024 Wiley Interface Ltd.
